Manweller was fired from his tenured teaching job at Central Washington University after an independent investigation concluded that he engaged in a pattern of sexually inappropriate conduct with 16 female students, including groping students in his office and offering good grades in exchange for sex.
Inappropriate Conduct with Student
During a meeting with a student, Manweller told her he was sexually attracted to her, asked her to go to a hotel with him, said she did not have to write her final paper but could do it “orally,” then groped and kissed her. The student left immediately and reported the incident to the university.

Six female legislative staffers reported that Manweller made inappropriate comments about their appearance. Everywhere he goes, Manweller harasses young women, including his former students, female staffers in the state legislature, and his children’s babysitter -- all reported that Manweller behaved inappropriately or made unwanted advances toward them.
Manweller Asked to Resign by the Republican Caucus due to alleged relationship with underage high school girl.
After a story was published detailing allegations that Manweller had a sexual relationship with one of his former high-school students in the 1990s when she was a minor, the House Republican Caucus issued a strongly-worded statement calling for his resignation. House Republican Leader J.T. Wilcox said “What Matt did was wrong. Our leadership team has asked Matt to resign from his position as state representative."
